Parent Responsibilities at Red Barn

Classroom Parent Helper

Parents are asked to help in their child’s specific classroom once a month from 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Those days are often the highlight of the Red Barn experience for both the parent and the child.

Classroom parent helping is one of the things that makes the experience of Red Barn special. Instead of asking, “What did you do today at school?” you can say, “Tell me about….” because you will know the daily routine, the other children’s names and many of the activities that take place during the school day. Parent helping gives you an opportunity to observe your child interacting with teachers, peers and other adults. It also provides you with many chances to see your child’s teachers in action, and, often times, it gives you great ideas to use at home. You get to know the other families and the staff, and we get to know you. The relationships you develop with your child’s teachers are close ones; you are part of their team. Most importantly, you participate in your child’s growth and development in these wonderful, formative years. Oh, and it’s lots of fun!
