Pre-Kindergarten Program

The pre-kindergarten class encourages collaboration with peers and fosters empathy and respect for differences as children work and play together. Children engage in more in-depth investigations stemming from their interests that incorporate math, literacy, and science objectives. Through both play and focused small-group work with teachers, pre-kindergarten students build literacy and math skills.

As students write stories, they practice spelling phonetically and developing characters and plot. The Lively Letters program fosters phonemic awareness in preparation for the transition to Kindergarten.

Participation in daily group Meeting Time helps children learn to take turns listening and speaking, to ask and answer questions, to share ideas and to plan next steps in group project work.
